The list spans 17 seasons, from IPL 2008 to 2025, across seven different grounds. Jos Buttler scored a century in four of these ten innings. Samson batted in seven of them. RR won seven and lost three, including a gut-wrenching 4-run defeat where Samson had already hit 119.

Big innings. Not always big results.

Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson in RR’s Biggest Innings

Buttler scored centuries in four of these ten innings. No other player on this list comes close to that.

124 off 64 against SRH in 2021. 116 off 65 against DC in 2022. 107 not out off 60 against KKR in 2024. 103 off 61 against KKR in 2022. All four were match-winning contributions, and all four came in RR victories. His worst scores across these ten entries were a 4 against Kings XI in 2020 and a 23 against RCB in 2018.

Samson batted in seven of the ten. His 119 off 63 at Wankhede in 2021 is the highest individual score in a losing cause across this entire list. He scored 50-plus four times: 85 vs Kings XI, 92 not out vs RCB, 119 vs PBKS, and 66 vs SRH. He was the top scorer in three of the seven entries where he played.

The 2022 season produced two entries, and Buttler scored a century in both of them. The 2021 season also produced two, and Buttler scored a century batting first while Samson scored 119 in the match they lost. Different outcomes, same two names driving the innings.
