Indian fans already know what the IPL is worth. But how far ahead is it really? The IPL’s total business valuation hit USD 18.5 billion in 2026. The entire PSL combined is valued at around Rs 2,160 crore.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi announced this addition specifically to reward development over pure performance.

What PSL Gets Right on Its Own Terms

Indian fans following the IPL closely might overlook what the PSL has genuinely built.

The league has consistently developed quality pace bowlers. Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali, and Wahab Riaz all sharpened key aspects of their game during the PSL seasons. For Pakistani domestic cricketers, the league provides the kind of competitive exposure that directly feeds into national team performance.

The shift to an auction model in 2026 is the biggest structural change in PSL history. The raised salary cap of $1.6 million and the new development award show a board thinking beyond just the current season. These are deliberate steps, not reactions to criticism.

Conclusion: RCB Alone Is Worth More Than Every PSL Franchise Put Together

For Indian fans, the IPL numbers need no introduction. Total business valuation of USD 18.5 billion. Rs 48,000 crore in broadcast rights.

Rs 27 crore for one player. RCB alone at Rs 2,327 crore worth more than the entire PSL combined. The PSL is a genuine cricket league producing real talent, particularly in pace bowling, and is now making its most significant structural changes since 2016.

The auction model, the raised salary cap, and the development award all point forward. The cricket produced by both leagues is competitive.

The financial gap between them is not a debate. It is just the data.
